Clever Advertising
How many advertisements would you say you see each day? Advertisements have been so engrained in our daily lives that we don’t even notice most of them anymore. With all the ads out there occasionally I see one that I think is clever or evocative, but that is far and few in between. With everybody and their dog hopping on the save the environment band wagon we are seeing some interesting ads from the likes of the World Wildlife Foundation and the Surfrider Foundation just to name a few. The WWF and the SF has worked with Saatchi and Saatchi to bring us some very clever ads.
The WWF has taken advantage of a rather unused area for marketing…. public restrooms. They are using ordinary paper towel dispensers as a commentary on deforestation.
I’m a big fan of the use of negative space and other elements that can make any ad more interesting. Another great commentary on the environment is this billboard that demonstrates just how creative Saatchi & Saatchi are. Personally the condoms are a bit much for me but I get the importance.
Here is a very curious idea for advertising. Wrap up trash that you find on the beach as if picked it up at the grocery store. The Surfrider Foundation had a booth with the “Catch of the Day” available for all to see.
